Bad weather unfortunately caused the Black Castle senior race to be cancelled on Wednesday 15th August; the race will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Fortunately sea conditions were good for races on Sunday 19th August and the juniors kicked things off with the junior sprints, with following results:
Under 8 Boys – 1st Michael Mooney, 2nd Charlie Brennan, 3rd Harri Armstrong
Under 8 Girls – 1st Mia Cowdrey, 2nd Kim Humby, 3rd Robyn Johnson
Under 10 Boys -1st Ben Hudson, 2nd Ciaran Carey, 3rd Jamie Coleman-Kelly
Under 10 Girls – 1st Robyn Brennan, Joint 2nd Dirren Drennan & Ciara Brennan
Under 12 Boys – 1st Christopher Drennan, 2nd Oisin O’Neill, 3rd Ciaran Prendergast
Under 12 Girls-Anna Moulders, 2nd Caoimhe Molloy, 3rd Eve Cowdrey.
Round 9 of the Youths section was over a course 800 metres long which saw following result:
1st Megan Sheerin, 2nd Sam Hennessy, 3rd Jill Humby.
The Juniors then returned to the water for the 5th Junior challenge of the year:
1st Kim Humby, 2nd Nikki Moulders, 3rd Robyn Brennan, 4th Dylan O’Donovan and
5th Ciara Brennan, who has just returned to swimming after breaking her leg earlier in the year.
The main race of the day was the Club Vartry. Eighty eight swimmers took to the water for a tough 2055 metre race.
Men’s result: 1st Arron Fitzpatrick, 2nd Gary Morton, 3rd Shay Jameson, 4th Ross O’Toole.
Ladies result: 1st Joan Morton, 2nd Aoife Fitzpatrick, 3rd Katie O’neill, and 4th Cloina Byrne.
