Wicklow Swimming club started off their racing season on Sunday 1st June, with one hundred and forty six swimmers competing in races. Conditions were good, but the water was still a bit cold as the Junior sprints started; U 6 Boys 1st Chris Hulin, 2nd Ben Fry. U 6 Girls; 1st Kate Tracey, 2nd Grace Sweeney. U 8 Boys 1st Joss Hulin, 2nd Jacob Fry. U 8 Girls; 1st Sienna Brennan, 2nd Grainne Molloy, 3rd Anna Mooney. U 10 Boys 1st Adam Ralph, 2nd Charlie Brennan, 3rd Dan Seymour. U 10 Girls 1st Laura Griffen, 2nd Amy Jane Sillery, 3rd Kirsty Dunne.U 12 Boys 1st Dylan O’Donovan, 2nd William Seymour, 3rd Matthew Leonard.U 12 Girls 1st Rhona Lennox, 2nd Robyn Brennan, 3rd Dirrean Drennan.U 14 Boys 1st Richard O’Sullivan. U 14 Girls 1st Emma Smith, 2nd Aoife-Marie Sheekey, 3rd Eve Cowdrey. In the Youth’s race, Niamh Fitzpatrick took first place, 2nd was Patrick Keogh and third Owen Shreenan. Ninety eight senior swimmers raced a course of 500 metres for the A.I.B cup; 1st Thomas Keogh, 2nd Emma Thompson and 3rd Scott Morton. Honorary life membership was presented to four long time members of Wicklow Swimming club on Sunday morning; Vincent Byrne, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, John Flood and John McAuley.
