The sun was shining, but there was a cold North Easterly wind keeping temperatures down for the Swimming Club races on Sunday 14th June.
First up were the Junior sprints Under 6 Boys: 1st Kian Copeland 2nd Bill Guinan 3rd Ewan Lennox.
Under 8 Boys: 1st Jacob Fry 2nd Des Brennan Jnr 3rd Ben Fry.
Under 8 Girls: 1st Caoimhe Doherty 2nd Jill Connolly.
Under 10 Girls: 1st Ella O’Donovan 2nd Ellie Mai Brennan 3rd Orla Long.
Under 10 Boys: 1st Kai Fitzsimons 2nd Harri Armstrong 3rd Brian Johnston.
Under 12 Boys: 1st Nathan O’Connor 2nd Conall Molloy 3rd Ben lawless.
Under 12 Girls: 1st Ciara Nolan 2nd Kirsty Dunne 3rd Robyn Johnston.
The first Junior Challenge of the year saw ten juniors swim 140 metres in the first Junior Challenge of the season; 1st Hari Armstrong, 2nd Connall Molloy, 3rd Amy Bell-King.
Twenty two Intermediates raced for the Jack Malone cup; 1st Dieeean Drennan, 2nd Connor McInerney, 3rd Lilly Devitt. Thirteen Youths competed in the next race; 1st Emmily Clarke, 2nd Julie Carey, 3rd Ryan Corrigan.
The Bank of Ireland cup had eighty four senior swimmers, racing for it. Choppy conditions made it a back markers race, and seen Gavin McInerney take first place, with Scott Morton in second and Simon McClean in third place.
Racing for Sunday 21st June as follows; 10.15am Junior Sprints, 10.30am Junior Challenge, 11am Intermediate, 11am youths, and 12 noon – senior race for the Humby family/Vartry garage cup.
