Wicklow Swimming Club started its summer season of racing on Sunday 31st May, but summer was missing, instead it was a cool 10-11 degrees on the pier, and probably a bit less in the water. Nevertheless 118 swimmers took part in competitive swims. Here are some photos from the day.
RESULTS SUMMARY:
The Juniors started things off, with 34 of them swimming, after much coaxing from their parents:
Under 6 Girls 1st Erica Huilin, 2nd F. Armstrong, 3rd Taelor Sherry.
Under 8 Boys; 1st Andrig Krauchenko, 2nd Chris Huilin, 3rd Eoin Mitchel.
Under 8 Girls; Caoimhe Doherty, 2nd Abby Copeland, 3rd Ruby Hasler.
Under 10 Boys; 1st Hari Armstrong, 2nd Adam Ralph.
Under 10 Girls; Ria Gregory, 2nd Orla Long, 3rd Molly Mae Sherry.
Under 12 Boys; 1st Chris Bouchier, 2nd Ben Lawless, 3rd Matthew Leonard.
Under 12 Girls. 1st Mia Kristensen, 2nd Kirsty Dunne, 3rd Bonnie Bell King.
Under 14 Boys; 1st Dylan O’Donnovan.
Under 14 Girls; 1st Ava Frazer.
The Youths race was a course 300 metres long, with ten young people swimming;
1st Rory Kelly, 2nd Emma Kristensen, 3rd Emma Smith.
The first senior race of the year – AIB cup, had 74 swimmers competing.
Remi Baltrusaitis put in a great swim to take first place, Mary Burbage was second, with Amy Armstrong in third.

Races start next week, Sunday 7th June at 10.30am Junior Sprints, 11 am Cox cup – Intermediate, 11.30am Youths and 12 noon the seniors swim for the Mark Byrne cup.
