Swim results Sunday 5^th June 2016

Wicklow Swimming started its 75^th year of sea swimming, in unusually summery conditions, the sun was shining, there was little wind and water temperature was 15 degrees. One hundred and fifty nine swimmers took part in the races on Sunday morning 5^th June.

First up was the Junior Sprints were we had 37 juniors competing.

Under 8 Boys:

1st Ben Fry 2nd Oisin Dunne 3rd Eoin Mitchell

Under 8 Girls:

1st Hannah Wynne 2nd Sarah Curry 3rd Ruby Hasler

Under 10 Boys:

1st Joss Huilin 2nd William Spencer 3rd David Johnston

Under 10 Girls:

1st Jill Connolly 2nd Hannah Lawless 3rd Abby Copeland

Under 12 Boys:

1st Mike Connolly 2nd Brian Johnston 3rd Charlie Brennan

Under 12 Girls:

1st Saoirse Dolan 2nd Eadaoin O’Keane 3rd Aoibhinn Dunne

Then we had the Junior Challenge with 14 swimmers competing; 1^st Jill Connolly, 2^nd Hanna Lawless, 3^rd Joss Huilin.

Twenty Intermediates swam for the Cox cup; 1^st Ciaran Carey, 2^nd Molly Sweeney, 3^rd Dirren Drennan.

Next up were the Youths, swimming 275 metres; 1^st Dylan O’Donnovan, 2^nd Ben Griffin, 3^rd Aoibhe Drennan.

Ninety four seniors competed for the Mark Byrne cup. Peter McGloin took the lead early and held on to take first place, Ronan Conway was second and Remi Baltrusaitis in third place.

Racing for Sunday 12^th june starts at 10.15am Junior Sprints, 10.30am Junior Challenge, 11 am Intermediates – Jack Malone cup, 11am Youths – Binnion cup, and 12 noon – the seniors race for the Bank of Ireland cup.
