Swim results Sunday 5th June 2016
Wicklow Swimming started its 75th year of sea swimming, in unusually summery conditions, the sun was shining, there was little wind and water temperature was 15 degrees. One hundred and fifty nine swimmers took part in the races on Sunday morning 5th June.
First up was the Junior Sprints were we had 37 juniors competing.

Under 8 Boys:

Under 10 Boys:
1st Joss Huilin 2nd William Spencer 3rd David Johnston
Under 10 Girls:
1st Jill Connolly 2nd Hannah Lawless 3rd Abby Copeland
Under 12 Boys:
1st Mike Connolly 2nd Brian Johnston 3rd Charlie Brennan
Under 12 Girls:
1st Saoirse Dolan 2nd Eadaoin O’Keane 3rd Aoibhinn Dunne
Then we had the Junior Challenge with 14 swimmers competing; 1st Jill Connolly, 2nd Hanna Lawless, 3rd Joss Huilin.
Twenty Intermediates swam for the Cox cup; 1st Ciaran Carey, 2nd Molly Sweeney, 3rd Dirren Drennan.
Next up were the Youths, swimming 275 metres; 1st Dylan O’Donnovan, 2nd Ben Griffin, 3rd Aoibhe Drennan.
Ninety four seniors competed for the Mark Byrne cup. Peter McGloin took the lead early and held on to take first place, Ronan Conway was second and Remi Baltrusaitis in third place.
Racing for Sunday 12th june starts at 10.15am Junior Sprints, 10.30am Junior Challenge, 11 am Intermediates – Jack Malone cup, 11am Youths – Binnion cup, and 12 noon – the seniors race for the Bank of Ireland cup.
