Another good Sunday morning;)
Conditions were good for races on Sunday morning 16th August. The Juniors were first up with the Sprints;
Under 6 boys: 1st Kian Copeland.
Under 6 Girls: 1st Mei Wilson 2nd Ruth Connolly.
Under 8 Boys: 1st Eoin Mitchell 2nd Darragh Bouchier 3rd Oscar O’Brien.
Under 8 Girls: 1st Jill Connolly 2nd Niamh Waters 3rd Ruby Hasler.
Under 10 Boys: 1st Brian Johnston 2nd Darragh Carey 3rd Mike Connolly.
Under 10 Girls: 1st Emma Waters 2nd Saoirse Dolan 3rd Ellie Mai Brennan.
Under 12 Boys: 1st Chris Bouchier 2nd Nathan O’Connor 3rd Charlie Pearse.
Under 12 Girls: 1st Sarah Flood 2nd Lauren Hasler 3rd Robyn Johnston.
Next up twenty one juniors swam for the first ever cup in the Junior Challenge swims, the Leonard Family cup. Charlie Brennan won the cup with Olivia O’Donovan in second and Kirsty Dunne in third place.
The Intermediates were swimming for the Michael Earls cup, they had a long swim of 700 meters, Mia Kristensen put in a fine swim to take first place with Ava frazer in second and Darragh Cahill in third place.
The Youth section is growing in numbers and cups, with a new cup presented by the Deennan family to the youth section. This was a very exciting race with Padraig Cahill winning, just ahead of Emily Clarke in second and Patrick Keogh in third place.
The John Flood – Bay Relay attracted a large crowd of people to watch as, ten teams of eight swimmers competed for this cup. John Flood was on hand to present the 47 year old cup to the yellow team captained by Carmel O’Toole and team mates Barry Cahill, Kathy Owens, Darragh Phelan, Sarah Doyle, Cian Molloy, Jackie Olohan, Roisin Hennessy.
Races start this week on Wednesday 19th August at 6.45pm Youths – B.C Sports cup and 7.15 Base 2 Race – sealed handicap. Racing for Sunday 23rd August starts at 10.15am Junior Sprints, 10.30am Junior Challenge, 11am Intermediate – Clarke Delahunt cup, 11am Youths swim for the new Mick O’Reilly cup, and 12 noon the seniors race for the Mick O’Reilly Cup.
