The rain was back for Sunday morning 26th June, but water conditions were calm as one hundred and thirty eight swimmers competed in races.
The Juniors were first in the water with the Junior Sprint:

Under 14 Boys:
1st Luigi Rea
Then sixteen Juniors competed in the junior Challenge; 1st Sienna Brennan, 2nd Saoirse Dolan, 3rd Jacob Fry.
Next up the Intermediates had a long swim of 400 metres for the Town Council cup; 1st Maya Gaynor, 2nd Olivia O’Donnovan, 3rd Aimee Bell-King.
The Youths had an even tougher swim of 600 metres in their sealed handicap; Dylan O’Donnovan swam a great race to take first place and fastest time just ahead of Emma Kristensen in second and Conor McInerney in third place.
The Senior race for the Town Council cup was lengthened to 800 metres and was a close affair with Mary Doyle taking the lead, with 120 metres to go, and holding on to finish in first place, just ahead of Pascal Rae in second and Aimee O’Brien in third place.
Mid-week swimming continues this week on Wednesday 29th June, with three races, 6.45pm Intermediate – Mark Dunne memorial cup, 7pm Youths race, 7.15pm Ral Brien memorial cup. Racing for Sunday 3rd July starts at 10.15am Junior Sprints, 10.30am Junior Challenge – Leonard cup, 11 am Intermediates – Cleary cup, 11am Youths – Cleary/O’Neill cup, and 12 noon – the seniors race for the Sean Kelly memorial cup.
